Time Out Says

The location behind Safestway supermarket and the basic, unremarkable interior shouldn’t fill you with too high expectations, which is a good thing, because the food here is acceptable at best. Despite its name, and contrary to what the few photographs of Istanbul would indicate, the restaurant describes its food as southeast Anatolian. Together with a few pan-Arabian mezze dishes and grills, the menu also features various Turkish ‘delicacies’, including iskender kebabs, which, we’re led to believe, are most common in northwest Turkey. Sadly, the kebab is a disappointment, unappetisingly made up of doner-like chunks of lamb or chicken and served with yoghurt and rice and then covered in tomato sauce. Other dishes fare not much better, staff seem uninterested and diners should be wary of having salads and mezze served at the start of the meal without asking. It’s a shame, really, especially as authentic Turkish restaurants are few and far between in Dubai.
