Italian Connection Cafe
Another of Oud Metha’s independent culinary gems
Time Out Says
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011Nestled on the service road between Lamcy Plaza and Maktoum Bridge, the Italian Connection Café must be a welcome retreat for homesick Italian expats in need of a healthy dose of mamma’s cooking. The small and popular bistro which has only 17 tables, is cosy and comfortable – if a little tatty around the edges. The atmosphere is welcoming – an aspect helped along by the rather traditional country kitchen décor. The service is attentive and knowledgeable – and we especially like the fact that all the pasta is homemade on the premises by the chef. Indeed, th cafe's seafood pasta is sublime, and filled to bursting with juicy chunks of fresh lobster. The meat cappelletti is also excellent, generously served and exceedingly tasty. But if those dishes don’t take your fancy, opt for the hearty pizzas which are unpretentiously rustic and satisfying. In fact, the only thing that’s missing from this place, is a licence and a bit of café street life.
