Time Out Says
If you like eating raw fish while looking at live fish, you’ve come to the right place. It is, perhaps, a bold move to place a fish tank in the middle of a conveyor-belt sushi bar, but that’s just what they’ve done at Itsu (no relation to the popular London chain). Does it work? Well, that depends on the individual, but the eatery’s interior is altogether peculiar, with glaring white lights and low ceilings – needed to accommodate the upstairs seating – making the space feel a tad cold and claustrophobic. All this would of course not matter if the food was good, but we’ve found it lacking in the delicacy and finesse for which Japanese cuisine is known. Sushi, sashimi and maki rolls make up a large chunk of the menu, but there are plenty of noodle, rice and fried dishes should you fancy something more substantial. Prices are fairly reasonable; just don’t expect the best quality.
