Time Out Says
Sitting alongside high-end haunt JG Dining Room, JG Kitchen is Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s more casual dining experience. The design is uncomplicated but unmistakably upmarket, with a chrome-clad open kitchen, the clatter of which creates a lively, energetic atmosphere. The menu is refined, but with low-key and casual additions – burgers and fried chicken sit alongside burrata and foie gras. In fact, it’s hard to really shove JG Kitchen into any dining box, since pretty much every popular and on-trend base is covered, from your ceviches through to your short ribs. Staff are fully versed on the menu, and if you ask for help you’ll most likely be given a confident and fluid rundown of recommendations. But what really makes a visit to JG Kitchen so worthwhile is the almost uniformly brilliant food. The burrata is a dish of cheesy goodness ingeniously teamed with a sweet, fresh and sharp Sorrento lemon syrup. This top creative cooking continues across the menu – the black truffle pizza another prime example, a light and fluffy flat-bread with a thin layer of truffle paste plus fontina cheese. Despite having a three-Michelin star name on the door, this is a fun, unfussy spot for a fine meal.
