Karachi Darbar

Curries under Dhs10, which is a treat for your wallet and stomach

Time Out Says

You used to have to head Karama to enjoy the cuisine from this authentic restaurant. However, there are almost a dozen locations spread across Dubai, each delivering some standout dishes – at rock-bottom prices.

Each site bubbles over with life and energy – expect to find diners from across the subcontinent and further afield congregating daily to tuck into tasty biryanis, which cost next to nothing.

However, cheap prices don’t make for inattentive service and small portions. The waiters are cheerful and efficient, and the food comes in sizeable servings, meaning you can fill the belly without emptying the wallet, which is always a winning combination in our eyes.

Our favourite is the chilli paneer. Don’t miss it. It’s excellent, with the tender cheese drowning in a rich tomato sauce. Plus the Karachi Darbar chicken jalfrezi is a longstanding special, for very good reason. It’s a hit.

Curries cost under Dhs10, and both you and your wallet will leave full.

You’ll also find Chinese dishes on the menu, but stick to the Pakistani and Indian dishes and you won’t regret it.

It’s well worth visiting this old favourite in Karama at any time of the day or night that you fancy a curry.
