Time Out Says
This small café-style restaurant occupies a prime spot on the Boulevard looking across at the Burj Khalifa. The outdoor terrace is the vantage point of the restaurant, which doesn’t get particularly busy most days, so guests will easily be able to secure a seat. Most people come to sit with friends and while away an afternoon smoking shisha. The menu offers Arabic-Indian fusion, which is done well, in a fun way – breakfasts are listed under “wake up and smell the karak chai” – and served in a laid-back setting. The food isn’t mind-blowing, but it hits the spot. Though the lamb shank rogan josh with saffron pilau could do with a spicier kick, it’s a hearty meal that comes in a portion large enough to satisfy the ravenous. The samke harra sea bass is a better option for those looking for a dish containing a vibrant mix of Arabian spices. Order the hummus medley for its inventive infusions of beetroot, date and avocado, muhammara and baba ghanoush, and don’t leave without trying that karak chai. This is a great place to stop off if you’re walking the Boulevard and looking for a satisfying meal with a little bit of a difference, or to relax and soak up those impressive views.
