Time Out Says
Since then, we’d hoped word would spread and a steady stream of traditionalists would be making their way to the 15th floor of DUKES The Palm for a taste of Mumbai. Unfortunately, it's still very quiet.
There's a narrow balcony looking out towards the Marina and a tastefully decorated interior – with vibrant paintings and concrete pillars. Thankfully, beaming staff inject some personality into the evening with a friendly smile, helpful explanation of the menu and how many dishes are made using the identical recipe to the original restaurant in Mumbai.
While the atmosphere remains low, the food, thankfully, has stayed at a delightfully high level. House specials are marked with a 1958 (the year the original was founded) and are always recommended by staff. And so they should be, every special we try is excellent. From the gargantuan Reshmi prawns to the chicken tikka starters, the rogan josh to the Khyber raan lamb leg, it’s filling, delicious food.
Go for the excellent and no-nonsense food, not for the atmosphere.
