Kiku

Longstanding traditional Japanese restaurant in Garhoud

Time Out Says

Unassuming (by Dubai standards, at least) and infinitely low-key, if you’ve not heard much about this stylish Japanese restaurant you may be surprised to arrive and find it so abuzz with diners. Whether the truly international crowd it draws is down to its proximity to the airport or its respected reputation, we’ll never quite know (though the fact the menu is also written in Japanese says something), but we can tell you with absolute certainty that every one of those patrons are onto something. The ramens are the best we’ve tried in Dubai, while the set menus offer excellent value for money for the quality of the food. Priced from around Dhs60 upwards, opt for one and you’ll get a main dish with salad, steamed rice and miso soup. For an alternative Friday night out, away from the city’s most-trudged tourist trails, Kiku is well-worth trying.
