La Piazza

Pre and post-cinema Italian food in The Mall of The Emirates

Time Out Says

We’ve often looked across to the crowded dining area of La Piazza and been impressed by just how busy the restaurant is, but having eaten there, we can only assume the crowds are drawn by the proximity to the Mall of the Emirates cinema. It certainly couldn’t be the food. The meat lasagna arrives swimming in a luminous orange cheese sauce and fails to retain its shape after the first forkfuls. Pizzas – which could have been the great attraction for the pre- and post-cinema crowd – are bland and under-flavoured. A saving grace could be the desserts. Less than Dhs30 for a presentable tiramisu or choux pastry is quite reasonable as long as you don’t have to contemplate sitting through mains before you get it. As the standard of food in and around Dubai’s malls gets better each year, La Piazza is in danger of being left behind.
