An expensive eat in the sophisticated surrounds of a Mall within a Mall environment
Time Out Says
The red sofas and dark stained wood tables within this open-plan eatery lend it the air of an American diner, but it still manages to exude sophistication. It’s located in the perfect spot in Galeries Lafayette, surrounded by aisles of indulgent, quality produce. The sweet treats on offer both at the counter and on the menu will certainly please any epicurean but not all of the food we tried on the day lived up to the restaurant's name. The menu sprawls with cuisine from across the globe. The Asian cuisine came highly recommended by staff, but sadly, we found the Singapore noodles a little stodgy and drenched in oil and the crispy duck merely palatable. We'd advise having an idea of what you fancy before you arrive, as not to spend most of your time perusing the extensive list. Thankfully, the restaurant's signature scallops dish did live up to expectation – soft, fresh and full of subtle flavours. But don't expect a cheap eat though, as its name hints, prices at can Lafayette Gourmet can creep to sky high.
