Time Out Says

Remember those 100 per cent pure beef burgers lovingly crafted for you by your mother when you refused to eat anything else on offer, meaning that both of you won the dinner time battle since you got to chow down on burgers while still satisfying her need to cater to a healthy diet? Well at Lakeview, you’ll find that very same wholesomely good, yet deliciously decadent burger on your plate. Only it’s served with long, thin golden French fries. And real crispy pork bacon. And side dishes of guacamole and coleslaw.

Time Out reported in last year’s guide that Lakeview grilled some of the best burgers in town and we are extremely relieved to reveal that this is still the case. Of just the right thickness, rich but not greasy and propped on top of a perfectly toasted bun with plenty of raw onion, the only minor letdown is the slice of plasticy processed cheese. (Although to many fast food fans, this would a positive point).

The jumbo char-grilled Gulf prawns – while more medium than extra large – are also commendable, served with ever so slightly spicy savoury rice crammed with grilled peppers and onions. All tastes are catered for here at very reasonable prices – an avo salad with chili salsa, fights for attention amongst sushi and mezze in the starters section, while mains range from chicken tikka, to fish and chips, to steak to sea bass to Peking duck and chicken wraps. All are fantastically fresh and prettily presented, but it’s that burger that will have you returning time and time again.

Dessert? It has to be the summer berry frozen yoghurt presented on a pistachio sponge in the guise of a purple-hued mini Emirates Palace. We’re still trying to work out exactly what’s in this dense, dry-yoghurt concoction, but whatever it is, it’s mighty good.

Seated on the wide wooden deck, flanked by the Dubai golf course on one side and the immense creek ballooning out for miles in front of you, you don’t get a much better setting, with as top-notch bar food as this.
