Time Out Says
The Italian restaurant sprawls, and if you go midweek in the evening or at the weekend, you can feel like you’re rattling around it a bit – it’s empty on our visit after work. This being in an office district, for atmosphere, it is perhaps best to book a table during the week for lunch.
The space is cosy, though, with bright yellow comfy bench-style seats and big orange chairs to sink into. There are fun arty elements in the décor, too, such as the bookshelves made of spikes protruding from the walls, with plenty of art and design books resting on them.
Larte is stylish, but not without substance. The menu is full of Italian classics – pasta, risotto, burrata and even cicchetti (Venetian snacks). But it’s the seared tuna fregola to start that stands out. It’s tiny bites of pasta in a zingy, lemony dressing with olives, topped with slices of blushing pink fish, perfectly sealed. It’s a true delight.
Another highlight is the oven-baked ziti ragu – a cheesy, creamy indulgent pasta bake with tomato sauce and a dash of mince meat that lifts the dish from delicious to sublime.
It might not be buzzing, but with food this good and great service, too, it’s well worth a visit.
The bottom line
Great choice for tasty, authentic Italian eats.
