Latino House

This restaurant goes beyond the Latin American cliché

Time Out Says

An evening at the Al Murooj Rotana’s Latin American restaurant begins with curiosity and ends with it, too. After short golf cart ride through the hotel’s swish complex and a walk down the huge marble spiral staircase that dominates the cosy dining room, you may still be scratching your head over what impression the restaurant is supposed to be presenting: Latin or conventional, flash or affordable. Were it not for the name above the door, you could miss the fact you are in a South American restaurant at all until you open the menu. There, tacos and burritos coexist uncomfortably with ordinary steaks, fish and chicken dishes. Meals arrive presented beautifully, but dig deeper to find oily minced meat and slightly charred steaks that appear to have been cooked without care, even on evenings when customers are at a premium. Service is attentive, although nervous and slow. All the ingredients are there for Latino House to become an accomplished component of Dubai’s Latin food circuit, but, curiously, the desire to be so seems absent.
