Leen's Casual to Gourmet
Time Out Says
But thanks to an element of confusion when it was under its previous guise – given its close proximity to the similarly named Surf House – the café has undergone a substantial rebrand.
Introducing Leen’s Casual to Gourmet, the eatery formerly known as The Surf Café.
The new-look dark green façade certainly makes it stand out. Tables are located on the surprisingly spacious top floor of a two-storey building where a distinct laidback Californian vibe runs throughout.
The menu, presented on a tablet, has more than 20 breakfast options to choose from, ranging from super-healthy to more calorific dishes.
We opt for the almond butter and strawberry pancakes – they seem like a happy balance, and are gluten-free. So it’s those and the appealingly unusual Thai beef and egg skillet that make their way to our table.
Generous servings are appreciated and the combination of the creamy almond butter, sweet strawberries and just the right amount of maple syrup makes the pancakes a huge hit.
The spiciness of the beef skillet is definitely a wake-up call for the senses, too.
With so many more dishes on the menu to try, we will be back.
