Lola’s Best Restaurant
South East Asian
Time Out Says
An adequate Filipino eatery near Satwa roundabout, Lola’s is worth a look for those curious about the country's cuisine. The room is basic, but clean, and quirky – a TV was blaring and solo diners were enjoying a lunch break on our visit. The glossy menu comes with colourful pictures, and staff are very handy at explaining dishes and making recommendations. But Lola's lets itself down with scattershot inconsistency from the kitchen. The mixed noodle dish, pancit fiesta, is a decent stomach-filler, if on the greasy side of things. But the house special stuffed grilled fish, pinaputok na bangus, is often too dry. But everything is very cheap – many dishes are less than Dhs20 – and in this basic environment it's a fine place to fill up, or try something exotic and out of conventional dining comfort zones.
