Madeleine Cafe & Boulangerie

Time Out Says

Madeleine Café and Boulangerie takes its inspiration from the old school of Parisian eateries, with plenty of dark wood, starchy black and white uniforms and classic bistro seating. Wander outside onto the terrace and you’ll find a wonderfully ambient setting, busy with fellow dining-shoppers and with enviable views of the Dubai Fountain. Here, however, is where much of Madeleine’s charms are locked. Service is polite (and just as starchy as the uniforms), but can be a little erratic during busy periods, even approaching inept. The menu looks like simple, classic bistro fare, with French favourites such as onion soup, salad Niçoise and confit duck leg available. The quality of preparation, however, does vary and is not exceptional, with icy and over chilled foie gras pâté teamed with ill-fitting accompaniments being one of the bigger disappointments on our last visit.
