Manga Sushi

Time Out Says

As the name suggests, head to this Japanese eatery in Beach Park Plaza, opposite Jumeirah Beach Park, for some decidedly quirky manga-themed dining. From kitsch cartoon decor to the anime and wacky talent shows screened on the walls, the owners have really gone for it with the theming – it’s just a shame the staff aren’t working quite as hard as the decorations. From taking orders to clearing plates to delivering food, service is epically, almost comically slow. While Manga might be a good option for a novelty meal, don’t try and do it in your lunch hour. Stick to the intriguing and extensive array of sushi rolls, sashimi and seaweed salad to avoid similar disappointment when it comes to the food, as hot dishes such as yaki soba taste sweet and sickly, as if straight from a bottle, and the noodles severely overcooked.
While the surroundings may be a hit with fans of Japanese culture, the food borders on a miss.
