Time Out Says
With more than 100 branches at home, and dozens more in the US and Canada, Max’s is a Filipino institution. At the Karama branch, you can expect the place to be regularly rammed with expat families loading up on hearty, homely food. Despite its claims to fame as ‘the house that fried chicken built’, the fried chicken is underwhelming, even alongside the novelty of banana ketchup. However, wavering between fast food and low-end restaurant, other Asian staples and Filipino specialities (tip: try the Lumpiang) are both tasty – and very affordable, with hearty combos starting at just Dhs18. A must-try experience, for sure.
