Time Out Says

Sometimes you come across a restaurant experience that blows you away. And recently, for us, that’s MINA Brasserie.

The restaurant – from US-based Michelin-starred chef Michael Mina – sits in the space in Four Seasons DIFC that previously held Firebird Diner, another eatery from Mina (but one that didn’t enjoy quite the success it had probably hoped for).

MINA Brasserie has a totally different feel, look and menu to its predecessor and we book in eager anticipation.

Promisingly, on calling up, we’re offered one of only two tables left on our chosen evening. With that in mind, we expect it to be busy. But this trendy DIFC restaurant is absolutely heaving when we dine at the weekend.

The service is impeccable, and the food is even better.

The European menu is littered with a range of dishes suitable for both carnivores and pescetarians, although vegans may find a few problems.

We opt for the aubergine tart, filled with pesto and balsamic to start. Don’t let its Dhs35 price tag fool you, there’s plenty on the plate, yet we still want more. We also opt for the the burrata and tomato salad, which is incredibly creamy, flavoursome and moreish.

For mains we plump for expertly prepared filet mignon, which is wonderfully seasoned. We pair it with an indulgent truffle mac ’n’ cheese, and grilled broccolini, because we need our greens. We try the roasted sea bream with saffron fregola and sundried tomatoes, too. It’s a light dish that’s fresh and tasty, and balances what’s otherwise a fairy heavy menu.

With a live three-piece band roaming the restaurant from Wednesday to Friday, and a packed, gorgeous terrace area, we suggest you get down to DIFC for your next date night.

1x eggplant Tart Dhs35
1x burrata Dhs85
1x roasted Sea Bream Dhs125
1x 250g filet mignon Dhs275
1x grilled broccolini Dhs40
1x truffle mac 'n' cheese Dhs40
Total (incl service) Dhs600

The bottom line
Classy, lively and downright brilliant.
