Time Out Says

When word got out that popular Greek beach club Nammos was opening in Dubai, a ripple of excitement went around the city’s cool crowd.

This super-trendy beach club is a sister of the popular party spot in Mykonos, so hopes were high for its Middle Eastern sibling. And it’s proved popular, being packed out weekend after weekend at its new home in Jumeirah.

With a beach area by day to chill out on, a cool restaurant and party vibes by night, it covers all bases. And the restaurant is the main draw for this seaside spot.

Head here on a weekend lunchtime to sit outside on the terrace for long, leisurely meal, or visit after sunset and expect a super-lively atmosphere.

It’s chic, upbeat and full of a glamorous crowd, which matches well with the mellow, sophisticated furnishings and breezy, fun vibe.

Dishes are a mish-mash of cuisines – you’ll find everything from sushi to Mediterranean grills, steaks and more. It’s all served sharing-style and we highly recommend you order a few dishes and get stuck in.

The sushi is tasty enough, but a platter of mezze, including a creamy hummus, is a top choice. From the main courses don’t miss the shrimp risotto, which is a Greek take on a classic Italian dish, made saganaki-style with tomatoes and rich, tangy feta cheese. The flavours and textures meld excellently.

There’s a decent choice of grape and drinks too, so arrive a little earlier if you fancy a pre-dinner drink at the bar.

The setting is charming, with an outdoor terrace surrounded by lush gardens around the sides and, of course, the beach and sea at the front. Service is a little hit-and-miss, however.

It’s not often we’re wowed by dessert, but the chocolate mousse is unmissable. Take our advice, save room. We’re served a scoop, ice cream-style, from a giant bowl of milk and white chocolate marbled mousse and we have to stop ourselves from ordering seconds of the pud.

For a lazy lunch or lively late night dinner, put your on gladrags and check Nammos out.
