Massive summer of shellfish eats at Pierchic

Take a culinary tour of Europe with incredible new dishes this summer

One of the city’s most romantic restaurants is once again “Shellebrating” the summer.

Pierchic, the famous upmarket eatery set out to sea at Al Qasr, Madinat Jumierah, is hosting its “culinary journey”, or “Shellebration”, for a second year running,

Kicking off on July 7, Pierchic will have a frequently changing menu, with dishes reflecting influences from six European regions from Portugal to the UK.

Designed by Chef Paolo Bellamio, from Padua, Italy, the dishes will originate from his home nation, Spain, Portugal, England, France and Belgium.

Each dish will be on offer for an exclusive two-week period, until the Shellebration draws to a close on September 28.

The tour starts off with Spain and a traditional paella, which was a bestseller on last year’s Shellebration menu. Back by popular demand, the saffron rice is packed full of chunky seafood and lobster, for an indulgent take on a classic.

The second offering is a “Catalana di Crostacei”, a poached seafood platter with vegetable crudité.

Portugal is up next with a “Cataplana de Peixe y Marisco”, an authentic shellfish and fish stew.

Homesick Brits will love the posh fish and chips, too. Crisp hops batter-encased turbot, served with triple-cooked Maris Piper chips, can’t fail to remind of home (albeit a classier one than your average haddock and mushy peas version).

France is the penultimate inspiration with a “Le Crabe and Crevettes Tour” a tower of dressed Atlantic crab and crevettes, from Normandy.

The Shellebration concludes with Belgium, and a creamy moules marinière. Delightful.

Kicking off on July 7 and ending on September 28, the below dishes star:

  • Week 1-2 (July 7-13): Spain, paella de arroz con bovagante
  • Week 3-4 (July 14-27): Italy, catalana di crostacei
  • Week 5-6(July 28-August 10): Portugal, cataplana de peixe y marisco
  • Week 7-8 (August 11-24): England, Posh Fish & Chic
  • Week 9-10 (August 25- September 14): France, le crabe and crevettes your
  • Week 11-12 (September 15-28): Belgium, moules marinière

Prices vary. Jul 7-Sep 28. Pierchic, Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 432 3232).
