Dubai institution Le Classique is closing its doors this month

Long-standing French restaurant to shut after 29 years at Emirates Golf Club

After 29 years of serving up French cuisine to Dubai’s diners, Le Classique restaurant up at Emirates Golf Club will be closing its doors at the end of July

It’s a sad day for one of the mainstays of Dubai’s dining scene, but before it says goodbye, Le Classique is putting up a special “Au Revoir” set menu for the rest of the month. The five-course menu will pay homage to its French roots, with four of the dishes being created “François style”, in tribute to the founding chef of the restaurant who started the joint back in the late ’80s and retired in 2012.

Highlights include foie gras poêlé, pineapple chutney and crispy quail; chef François’ French onion soup, lobster thermidor and a café gourmand featuring crepe suzette, peach melba and speciality coffees. The set menu will set you back Dhs275 per person or Dhs405 including selected grape and house beverages.

News of its successor will come in due course, but it has been confirmed that a “brand-new dining experience” is set to replace Le Classique soon.
From Dhs275. Until July 31. Emirates Golf Club, Emirates Living (04 417 9999).
