A new Italian restaurant has opened in Downtown Dubai, sure to please lovers of pizza and pasta.

Via Veneto Osteria e Cucina will be serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner at its Manzil Downtown location.

The restaurant is spilt into two sections – the Cucina (for rapid bites) and the Trattoria, for a more leisurely meal. There’s also an outdoor terrace for the cooler months, as well as the Osteria upstairs, which has prime views of the Burj Khalifa.

Dishes take in flavours from Rome, Naples and Milan to provide an authentic Italian dining experience.

On the breakfast menu are plates including traditional uova al purgatorio, pan-cooked eggs in a fiery tomato and pepper sauce, bruschetta al salmone with avocado, and the intriguing-sounding waffle all’ anatra, a savoury dish topped with duck confit, caramelised apple, a fried egg and crispy beef bacon.

Later on in the day you can choose from a range of pizzas, pastas, risottos including fettucine alle zucchine and la Napoletana pizza. Mains include osso buco, polpo all griglia (marinated octopus with potato and sweet peppers) or chargrilled flank steak.

Standing in the place of what used to be Fumé, the new Italian kitchen will be led by former Boca chef Maxime Le Van.

“It’s been a great personal achievement to have joined the team during the brand development process,” said Le Van.

“Having to create two separate menus has allowed greater creativity in the dishes and an offering that appeals to a wider consumer base. The Via Veneto brand doesn’t take itself too seriously, and invites diners to spend the evening in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.”

Open daily 8am-midnight. Via Veneto, Manzil Downtown Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard (04 242 7882).
