Go on a Portuguese taste adventure as Pierchic’s summer-long Shellebration event moves on to celebrate the Mediterranean nation.
The famous upmarket eatery at Al Qasr, Madinat Jumeirah, is currently embarking on a European culinary adventure featuring a fortnightly menu change, each inspired by a different country. Previously the restaurant has explored themes from Spain and Italy, with dishes such as catalane di crostacei featuring from the latter – an elaborate seafood platter starring lobster, scallops and king crab.
Over the next fortnight, until Saturday August 19, get your hands on the cataplana de peixe y marisco – a Portuguese shellfish and fish stew. Tuck into this regional classic, which incorporates sautéed monkfish, prawns, clams and vegetables, presented in a traditional cataplana pan. Pierchic says the dish is a nod to the Algarve’s heritage, linked strongly to the Arabic presence from North Africa centuries ago.
The dish, available for two weeks from today until Saturday August 19, is incorporated into the Chic Brunch menu, and comes in at Dhs350. This is one that seafood fans will not want to miss.
In coming weeks the Shellebration continues with English, French and finally Belgian menus being introduced.
