Italian culinary master classes at Solo

Ten classes to help you perfect that pasta and nail that gnocchi

Fancy yourself to be the next Giogio Locatelli or Gino D’Acampo? Well now you can become a master of Italian culinary creations with a series of cooking masterclasses coming to town.

If, like us, you’ve always wanted to try making your own pasta, but just never got around to it, head to Solo Italian Restaurant and Bar at Raffles Dubai. Starting on Saturday September 9, and running weekly until Saturday November 11, you can join in with up to ten classes that will show you how to prepare a range of classic Italian dishes, from gnocchi to spaghetti carbonara.

But it’s not just about pasta, and Solo’s cooking classes will focus on some of the finer nuances of Italian cuisine, including capricciosa salad, meatballs, parmigiana di melanzana, pan-seared scallops and even creating home-made pesto.

In the final class, guests will learn how to prepare carre di agnello, a grilled, trimmed rack of lamb served with creamy polenta, caponata and thyme jus. You’ll also be treated to top tips on how to make Solo’s signature lasagne, while making panna cotta with morelo cherries and biscotti.

We can’t wait for this one, and classes cost Dhs300 per person for a two-and-a-half-hour class. Booking in advance is essential - we’re already in. For more information on specific classes, head to

Dhs300. Every Sat from Sep 9 to Sat Nov 11, 11.30am-2pm. Raffles Dubai, Oud Metha (04 324 8888).
