A Dubai institution is closing down, and it’s a sad day for pizza fans across the city.
Long-term residents of Dubai will today be mourning the news that US fast food outlet Round Table Pizza, which has been present in Dubai since the ’90s, has ceased operation of its entire chain of branches across the city.
The local franchise confirmed to Gulf News that it has permanently closed. It might be difficult to swallow, but apparently no reason has been given on why the chain has served up its final slice.
A message from Round Table Pizza Dubai said that “unfortunately” all the restaurants had been closed down, and a representative from Dubai World Trade Centre also said that the branch on site has closed and will not be reopening.
Telephone numbers through the restaurant no longer connect, and Google has listed all seven different outlets as permanently closed.
With so many pizza restaurants, shops and chains available across the city, competition has become increasingly fierce over the years, but it’s still a shame to see one of the longer-serving franchises on the scene close its doors.
