Sarnies, toasties, subs - whatever you choose to call them, we love a proper sandwich. Which is why we couldn’t be more excited by the news that a brand-new sandwich restaurant is now operating in City Walk.
The Carving Board has opened up its first restaurant outside of the US, and it’s right here in Dubai. Billed as a “fast-casual speciality sandwich franchise that transforms classic comfort dishes into sandwiches”, The Carving Board already has branches in California – including in
Hollywood and West LA – and has more than 50 creations on its sandwich menu. So we’re pretty sure whatever it is you’re looking for sandwiched together, you’ll find it here.
We love the sound of the spaghetti and meatballwich (Dhs45) – which is a classic twist on spaghetti and meatballs, featuring homemade meatballs sliced and topped with garlic basil marinara sauce and a thick slice of melted mozzarella, served between Parmesan spaghetti that is coiled up and formed into a bun. There’s also a fish and chips version (no explanation needed) and The Bentley, which is a take on a traditional steak dinner featuring a quarter pound of seasoned filet mignon served on ciabatta bread, covered with beef bacon mayo, blue cheese, grilled onion and fresh spinach (Dhs55).
Especially for Dubai, there’s The Emirati – made up of sliced turkey breast, goat’s cheese, baby spinach, avocado, tomatoes, walnuts and date, spread on a multi-cereal bread (Dhs42).
The Carving Board comes from brothers and co-founders, David and Yoav Adir, who have brought the California favourite to City Walk alongside UAE-based Master Investment Group.
“We’re excited to bring our brand to the UAE, Master Investment Group saw a gap in the market as we did in the states. We were very happy they wanted to work with us and bring our brand to the Middle East. Dubai has such an amazing food culture and we love the fact that we cannot only add to it, but bring our translation of sandwiches,” says David Adir.
There’s also another two openings in the pipeline too, at The Onyx Tower and The Dubai Mall in 2018. So watch this space, sandwich fans.
Open daily 8am-11pm. City Walk, www.eattheboard.com/franchise.
