First look: LARTE in d3

A brand-new café and design store has opened up

There’s a brand-new cafe and design store in d3 – and Time Out Dubai had an exclusive first look.

With plenty of exciting, fresh dishes on the menu and Italian creations on show, LARTE looks set to be an exciting new opening for the area.

The LARTE Project “showcases the best of contemporary Italian design, culinary creativity and artistic expression in a casual café experience”, says the team behind it.

Comprising of four distinct areas – a counter service caffe, a terrace, a bar and ‘trattoria’ – LARTE boasts simple, authentic Italian charm and hospitality.

LARTE was founded by a group including Allegrini, Baratti & Milano, Bellavista, Ca’ Del Bosco, Ferrari Trento, Feudi di San Gregorio, Illy and San Pellegrino. The original is in Milan, while there’s also a second brand of LARTE in Abu Dhabi, at Manarat at Saadiyat, Yas Island.

The café and store follows the philosophy of “bello, buono e ben fatto”, meaning the beautiful, the good and the well-made.

The Mediterranean menu includes a selection of vegetarian, vegan, seafood and meat options. LARTE serves up breakfast, lunch and dinner including sharing platters and main courses. There are plenty of antipasti, too, with homemade dips, carpaccio, cured meats, salads, focaccia and regional Italian cheeses. Signature dishes include oven-baked ziti ragu, truffled clam casarecce, parmigiana and veal Milanese. For those with a sweet tooth there are desserts including pistachio cake and a panettone French toast.

LARTE has been designed by Dubai-based designer Paul Bishop (the man behind the designs at BOCA, Waka, Zuma, Toro + Ko to name just a few) and showcases exclusively Italian brands from Altagamma members: Artemide lighting, Bisazza ceramics, Alias and Desalto furniture.

With fresh, bright interiors and an exciting menu, looks like it’s time to take a trip to d3.
Open daily noon-4pm; 6pm-11pm. Building 10, d3, (04 240 0441).
