Whether it’s lathered on toast, rolled up in a crêpe or straight from the jar with a spoon, there’s no wrong way eat Nutella. Monday (February 5) is World Nutella Day and we can’t wait to get spreading. It’s a day to throw caution (and scales) to the wind and indulge fervently from dusk til dawn. The person with the best Nutella-tash wins.

Just when you thought Nutella couldn’t get any better, the folks at Golden Dragon decided to deep fry it. The Chinese restaurant has just released a new Pan-Asian menu featuring Asian-inspired Nutella and pretzel crispy wontons, and we are salivating at the mere thought. Other dishes include firecracker chicken, Cantonese stir fry and Schezwan chicken, as well as unlimited dim sum for Dhs65.

You might not automatically associate Nutella with Turkish cuisine, but the finest quality hazelnuts come from the Black Sea region, where 70 percent of the world’s hazelnuts are produced. The folks at Günaydın Dubai are well aware of this fact, and have included the tasty chocolate spread among the many jams included in their lavish Turkish kahvalti (that’s breakfast to the rest of us). The morning feast also includes Turkish morning staples such as menemen, soudjuk eggs, cheese börek and kaymak, along with Turkish bread and pastries such as poaca, simit and pide and unlimited Turkish tea. We can’t think of a better way to start the day.
Dhs103. Fri & Sat, 8.30am-noon. Souk Al Bahar, Downtown Dubai (04 554 0700).
Mama Thani Café
Mama Thani is best known for its authentic Khameer bread, a round flatbread of humble Beduin origins with a golden crust, often split open to be stuffed with anything one fancies. Being World Nutella Day, we’re obviously going to suggest filling it to the brim with chocolate, and luckily, such an option is readily available on the café’s menu.
Dhs26. Open daily, 8am-midnight. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai (04 443 2441).
Nola Eatery & Social House
To celebrate this most treasured of all days Nola’s chef is whipping up a special dessert piled high with creamy Nutella and available for one day only. The exact components of the Nutella dessert remain a mystery at present, but the main ingredient is the one we all know and love.
Dhs35. Mon Feb 5, noon-midnight. Armada BlueBay Hotel, JLT Cluster P (04 399 8155).
Nutella is best served with churros and a side of salted caramel. This is what you’ll get at Publique on World Nutella Day and every other day when you visit the Souk Madinat Jumeirah restaurant. The fried dough tubes were made to be dunked in chocolate and we recommend coating generously.
Dhs40. Open Sun-Thu, noon-2am; Fri-Sat, noon-3am. Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 430 8550).
The Nutella bar – Eataly
No roundup for World Nutella Day would be complete without Eataly’s Nutella Bar. The Italian brands come together to bring us a menu that will leave chocoholics quaking with excitement. Chocolaty options include Nutella waffles, Italian connolo, Nutella filled coconut cake and cookie sandwiches among many other Nutella-slathered delights. It’s the stuff dreams are made of.
