FIRST LOOK: Levee Café and Lounge opens at La Mer

The new Mediterranean restaurant boasts sea views and an in-house pastry studio

A brand-new home-grown café and lounge is now open at beachfront spot La Mer, and it sounds simply delightful.

Levee Café and Lounge is serving up French/Mediterranean food with a side of picturesque coastal views, being set on the North side of La Mer. And in even better news, there’s an on-site pastry studio, too.

An all-day dining menu takes its cue from seasonal ingredients, ensuring that dishes are fresh and tasty. With a menu designed by Chef Chandima Alawata, who previously worked at Vida Downtown, the restaurant promises “dishes that reflect heartfelt home cooking” and pretty presentation.

Dine outside on the beachside terrace or indoors in the cool, contemporary dining room. Interiors are designed by Dubai developed Innovate Living, and are modelled around a New York loft-style experience.

Expect dishes such as eggs florentine and àçai bowls for breakfast, while lunches and dinners take on a seafood twist with items including Canadian lobster tail, red snapper carpaccio and a special La Mer seafood risotto.

If you’re not after a full-on meal, fear not, as you can pop into the café’s Coffee & Juice Mixololgy Bar, while there’s also an on-site bakery and pastry studio to satisfy those with a sweet tooth. All bread and cakes are freshly prepared by a team of in-house pastry makers. You’ll always find a variety too, as there are 92 recipes in rotation.

With a dining scene that’s soon to boast 130 restaurants, get La Mer, and Levee Café and Lounge, on your list, now.
Open daily 8am-midnight. La Mer, Jumeirah 1 (04 380 2000).
