How do you like your ice cream? We like ours with a flake and a tonne of curry powder.
Not only does iScream at La Mer offer curry-flavoured ice cream, it also offers wasabi, matcha green tea and black sesame – and you'd better be ready to scream for it.
The shop has 44 ice cream flavours available in-store – and you might just hear some mysterious noises coming from inside.
The store’s motto is “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”, and as you might have guessed, the vendors are keen on advertising this from the top of their lungs.
They will also encourage you to exercise your own voice box, and the in-store decibel meter will measure the volume (and ferocity) of your scream.
As well as the in-store wooden ice cream truck, you’ll also find hop-scotch, a hula hoop, a foosball table and a PS4.
Founder and Managing Director, Rami Halawi, came up with the concept over two years ago, and launched the business at La Mer a couple of weeks ago.
Halawi told Time Out Dubai: “Just like Dubai welcomes a big variety of nationalities, we are catering to all the nationalities residing here.
“To be more precise, we have more than 44 flavours available in the shop and many more in our factory in Dubai.
“Those flavours vary from the standard ones you find in any ice cream to the weirdest and most exotic from around the world such as curry, kulfi, ube, Emirati coffee, umm ali, wasabi, ginger, matcha green tea, Halawa, dates and others.
“We also have sandwich ice cream on our menu but not the regular ones you find in other shops.
“We took the word literally and created real sandwiches using ciabatta bread, rainbow bread, brioche burger bun, croissant, muffins, macaron, éclair, choux, crêpe, waffle, cotton candy and others.”
There are also Big Screamers available for birthdays and parties (which you can see in the pictures above) that are literally bigger than your head.
We can tell you first hand that the flavours are weird, wonderful, and you will want to try them all.
