Eat fish & chips with proper gravy at MancFest in Dubai

Feel right at home in Axe House’s Manchester inspired night

Feeling a little homesick? Tonight, Axe House wants all Mancunians to feel like they're back in their favourite bar in Manchester.

MancFest is, you guessed it, a celebration of everything that's great about the northern city - and the popular bar and restaurant is doing it in good fashion.

Expect traditional British grub, with a menu including signature dishes like fish & chips with proper gravy, Lancashire hot pot and all the jammy goodness of a Manchester tart.

While customers relish in the nostalgia of Mancunian food and drinks, Andre Nel will beat-box, loop station and croon his way through some of the city's well known classics. Think Oasis, Simply Red, The Smiths and Take That.

There will also be a pool competition on the night where Mancs go head to head for a prize of Dhs1,000 bar tab at Axe House. Start polishing that pool cue.

If you want to take away a little piece of home, Drawdeck will be showcasing some Manchester-themed artwork available for purchase or just to marvel at.

Axe House in JLT has only recently opened, and we loved our visit to the quirky bar and restaurant. Check out our thoughts here.

At the very least, MancFest proves it's not all that grim up north.

Free. Mar 19 7pm-11pm. Armada BluBay Hotel, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (04 399 9577).
