Katsuya By Starck reopens at The Dubai Mall

Popular Japanese restaurant launches second branch

There’s great news for Japanese food fans as Katsuya By Starck is now open in The Dubai Mall. (Again.)

The trendy eatery opened earlier this week (Tuesday April 24) in the brand-new Fashion Avenue. Katsuya previously had an outlet in The Dubai Mall, which shut before the brand relaunched in Dubai at Jumeirah Al Naseem last summer. It’s now a popular location in the foodie hotspot around Turtle Lagoon – sitting alongside Il Borro, Black Tap and Flamingo Room by tashas.

With restaurants in Hollywood, South Beach and Las Vegas – to name a few – it’s safe to say Japanese big-hitter Katsuya Uechi is a famous name on the US sushi scene.

A sushi brand born of a partnership between chef Uechi and design maestro Philippe Starck, the “upscale casual restaurant” boasts the same menu as its Jumeirah Al Naseem sister, so expect to be able to get your hands on dishes such as the restaurant’s signature Hollywood rolls.

There will also be a range of mains, robata grills and speciality mocktails.

The Japanese Kanji symbol "Katsu" means "victory" and the team are aiming for just that. It promises to cater for all – from office workers to shoppers.

The restaurant will be open for both lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

Fashion Avenue looks the place to eat, with travel-inspired restaurant Somewhere opening recently as well as classy Italians Gia and Cova.

We'll see you at the mall.
Open Sun-Wed 11am-midnight; Thu-Sat 11am-1am. The Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai (04 419 0067).
