Homegrown rotisserie chicken restaurant opens

New eatery The Roost now serving “natural” eats in Jumeirah

Fans of rotisserie chicken, listen up, there’s a brand-new restaurant that you’re going to love.

The Roost Rotisserie is now officially open at Al Wasl Road in Al Thanyah.

Billed as a “friendly, down-to-earth restaurant” it promises to serve tasty, home-cooked grub to Dubai's residents.

The family-friendly eatery boasts “quirky interiors and a cosy environment”, built by a husband and wife team who want to produce “honest, natural, fresh and most importantly, delicious dishes”.

The menu, naturally, stars roasted chicken, which you can order in a variety of sizes, including The Fifty (half), The Full Monty (full) and The Flock (three whole chickens, if you’re having the clan over, or are just feeling super hungry).

There’s also a selection of different “crops”, including truffle and parmesan or oregano and sea salt fries, corn on the cob with lime and parmesan, and a healthy brown rice pot. If you’re after something lighter there’s a watermelon salad or a chilli and lime chicken version.

Home-made sauces included a healthy barbecue one, and banana ketchup, which only has natural sugars.

Finally the restaurant’s special dessert is kurtos kalcs, an Eastern European pudding that’s made from sweet dough and roasted on the rotisserie. Once golden brown and crispy, the pastry is rolled in your chosen coatings, then filled with a variety of flavours such as “jammy dodger”, “jaffa cake”, apple pie, and dulce de leche.

If you’re after roasted chicken, you know where to go.
Open Thu-Sat noon-midnight; Sun-Wed noon-10pm. Al Wasl, Al Thanyah, Jumeirah (800 76678).
