Dubai looks set to get a whole host of new restaurants, and we can't wait.
Hotel group Jumeirah has brought in Michael Ellis, the former director of the Michelin Guide, to develop new culinary concepts.
Jumeirah hopes that the appointment will attract more top chefs to Dubai, while also developing fresh talent.
Ellis has served as the global director for Europe, Asia and the America at Michelin Restaurant and Hotel Guides since 2011, and will step down from his role on September 14, 2018.
With seven years of experience under his belt, we can be sure to expect another level of fine dining and delicious eats for Dubai to offer over the next few years.
Jumeirah CEO José Silva said: “He has spent his lifetime championing extraordinary food with absolute dedication and has been responsible for introducing dining and food experiences to new audiences across the globe.
“His appointment is the cornerstone of the vision to put dining at the centre of Jumeirah’s luxury experience.”
Jumeirah’s collection of restaurants currently boasts brands such as Pai Thai, Al Nafoorah, Pier Chic, The Rib Room, Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara and many more.
The Michelin Guide awards restaurants up to three stars in order of excellence. Although Michelin-rankings are not yet in Dubai, we have many restaurants from Michelin-starred chefs already in town, with more in the pipeline.
The brand has expanded its collection of guides to different countries, with six new titles being made over the past three years under his leadership.
We can’t wait to see what Ellis will bring to the already exciting dining scene in Dubai.
On the topic of culinary talent, Top Chef Cooking Studio on Jumeirah Beach Road is hosting a selection of classes so you can learn how to rule the kitchen.
