Brand-new Lebanese restaurant Babel is now open at La Mer, and we can't wait to try it out.
The beachside area in Jumeirah 1 is fast becoming a go-to spot for diners. And now those looking for a taste of Lebanon are in for a treat.
The restaurant, which was set up in Dbayeh, Lebanon in 2009, boasts a “signature twist on Mediterranean classics”. There are three branches in Lebanon as well as one in Kuwait, and now this newest branch in Dubai.
The restaurant itself is laid out over two levels. It has a spacious terrace for the winter months, too. Inside, there’s a large seafood bar and an expansive indoor dining area.
The menu at Babel contains a “contemporary fusion of Lebanese flavours, with an array of seafood specialities”. So you can expect a twist on authentic mezze dishes such as hummus, shrimps Beiruty and a range of kibbeh. Seafood selections including salmon sashimi, fattet shrimps and calamari à la Provençale.
There’s also a range of “warm and comforting” homemade bread and dips. Ingredients are sourced locally and from Lebanon, including pine nuts and sumac from the latter. Finally, you can choose from a list of traditional desserts including kunafa. Sounds good to us.
