A brand-new Italian restaurant is coming to Dubai – and it looks set to be a great one.
Torno Subito will be opening in W Dubai – The Palm when the trendy new hotel opens later on this year. And the most exciting news? It’s from chef Massimo Bottura, the man behind the world’s number one restaurant of 2018 – Osteria Francescana.
The three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Modena, which opened in 1995, is world-famous. It was voted number one in the world in 2016, and this year reclaimed its top spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Also in the top ten this year was a restaurant from another chef with a Dubai outpost. Central, in Peru, from LIMA Dubai’s chef Virgilio Martínez Véliz came in at number six on the list.
Torno Subito will be a first restaurant outside of Italy for the chef, and it promises to “take guests on a journey back to 1960s Italy, where the vibe is sophisticated and social, but laid-back”.
The name means “I’ll be right back” and it’s what Italian restauranteurs hang in the window when they’re taking an afternoon break.
The restaurant will be open for both lunch and dinner, and there will be dining areas indoors, as well as al fresco on the terrace or beach. You can even order a pedalo picnic to enjoy in the lagoon. Plus, we’re promised a “quirky roaming gelato cart”, too.
Bottura has a second restaurant in Modena, too, Franceschetta 58, which is a casual brasserie, as well as having written several books.
When it opens W Dubai – The Palm will have 350 guest rooms and suites, six restaurants and bars, private beach with watersports and a spa. It will also be pet-friendly. There will also be a restaurant from Michelin-starred Japanese chef Akira Back, as well as Wet Deck pool bar, SoBe rooftop bar, Mediterranean restaurant Liv and, of course, W Lounge.
