Time Out Says
Take a seat outdoors in cooler weather, as the terrace feels cosy and intimate. We sit here and peruse the menu, which is packed full of vegetarian dishes.
The service at Ostro is a bit hit-and-miss (you’ll be twiddling your thumbs for a while), but when the food arrives it’s absolutely worth the wait.
The hands-down hit? The Say Something Cheezy bubble bread.
While it isn’t technically bubble bread (it’s a bit more like a pizza), it’s is one of the cheesiest dishes we’ve had in the city.
Taking the form of an extremely soft flat bread covered in four different types of cheese, the flavours are expertly balanced between the stronger and more mild melted fromages.
And at Dhs42, it’s cheaper and tastier than grabbing a takeaway pizza, plus it’s all served in cosy surroundings. What’s not to love?
And the French toast is equally impressive, both in terms of looks and taste. The large slab of brioche is piled high with berries, almonds, poached pear and cocoa nibs – complete with home-made hazelnut spread and delicate tiramisu cream.
Ostro is an excellent spot for some top-notch veggie food – and a beautiful place to while away a few hours – possibly accidentally due to the slow service but that’s just a minor blip.
