Time Out Says
Pacific Groove is the hotel’s signature restaurant – and promises a laid-back Californian feel. There’s no real movie theme – but we suppose that California is the heart of the movie industry is enough. It is very laid-back, mainly because it’s so quiet, which is a shame as the décor and food is actually pretty decent.
All light colours and furnishings there’s a chilled US vibe, and the menu boasts a range of dishes from ceviches to sushis as well as salads and mains from the wood fire grill. Staff don’t seem that up to speed, but are friendly.
From the sushi, we kick off with the spicy tuna rolls, which pack a punch. We move onto wood grilled octopus and red snapper for mains. The seafood is tasty and comes with grilled pineapple. Flavours work well.
Don’t miss dessert. The sweet tacos – which are sort of like mille feuille – are utterly delicious, light and crispy with a sweet creamy filling.
It’s just a shame the vibe doesn’t live up to the food – or its name.
