Time Out Says
Decked out in faux-exposed brick and housing red pottery replicas of ancient Roman artefacts, this Italian restaurant in JLT is best described as offbeat rustic. The aubergine parmagiana starter is rich and cheesy, topped with fragrant herbs, and it’s an ambitious way to start the meal, considering its large proportions. Steer clear of the ravioli pastas and instead opt for one of the many wood-fired pizzas. There are plenty of toppings to dig into, including chicken, mushroom and pesto, anchovies and capers with basil, as well as their own take on the traditional meat-lovers’ choices, known here as Carne Pompeii. Adventurous eaters and heat-seekers can tuck into a tikka pizza among a range of spicy options. The dessert menu is rather limited (tiramisu or cheesecake) and don’t expect anything earth-shattering, but for what it is, this restaurant does the trick.
