Pure Sky Lounge
Time Out Says
The venue itself is on the tired side, and the view is partially blocked by the hotel signage. However, bag yourself a table by the glass barriers and you’ll be thrilled to find yourself admiring the impressive views.
The menu is pan Asian and there’s a range of dishes from bar bites to a slap-up dinner. It’s also not overpriced, and having been underwhelmed by the food in the past, we’re pleasantly surprised on our latest visit.
We kick off with a portion of pan-seared shrimp, and we’re delighted. The meaty prawns are perfectly cooked and served with mango dressing.
There’s a hint of lemongrass and the flavours work beautifully. It’s a strong start. Chicken satay is drenched in peanut sauce – which if you’re nuts for nuts you’ll love – but the flavours are a little overpowering. Meanwhile the chicken dumpling soup is hearty and warming.
If you’re looking for a main, don’t miss the beef tenderloin – which at Dhs105 is one of the most reasonably priced steaks we’ve come across.
Perfectly cooked tender slices of juicy meat are served up with al dente broccoli, while little jewels of pomegranate add texture and flavour. The nasi goreng is average, but you can’t win them all.
It may not have the swankiness of some spots, but pair the food with the prices and views then it’s a decent place to check out.
