Time Out Says

It comes as no surprise that this North Korean restaurant offers one of Dubai’s quirkiest dining experiences. From its female North Korean staff, who double up as traditional singers and pianists every night, to the kitsch living room-style décor, it’s a fascinating place at which to dine. To make the experience all the more outlandish, hire one of Pyongyang’s private karaoke rooms. The food itself is not too far off that of Dubai’s many South Korean eateries, but slightly pricier, perhaps because of the novelty factor. The seafood soup packs a hearty punch and the mutton barbeque, which you can prepare yourself on one of the in-built table cooking stations is very tender. For a bargain set meal go at lunchtime and order a box filled with rice, kimchi and a steaming bowl of beef or chicken for just Dhs38. There are better Korean restaurants in Dubai but getting a brief glimpse of the culture of one the world’s most secretive nations is too good to ignore.
