Time Out Says
However, it’s predominantly a restaurant, and thus the food has to live up, which it duly has. Eighteen months on and the menu has undergone a revamp – which we have mixed feelings about. Where is that glorious cheese toastie that we’ve raved about? What happened to the traditional Cornish pasty so rarely found in Dubai? Wherefore art thou chicken tenders? The former is still on for lunch (lucky daytime diners) but the others – gone without a trace.
The new menu is much more of the fancy gastrogrub ilk – pan-seared sea bass, roasted cornfed chicken et al. The buttermilk chicken burger is a tasty enough substitute for the chicken strips, it’s juicy and substantial, while the pan-fried gnocchi is an interesting twist on the norm. We love the texture and flavour, packed with al dente green veg, mozzarella and Parmesan. It’s grown-up, tasty and not too filling.
The food is decent if you’re looking for a proper meal, but if you’re after the usual casual bar bites you may be disappointed.
