Time Out Says
This cool venue has slipped straight into the upper echelons of Japanese dining in the city. It’s a dimly lit venue with graffiti-style art on the walls. It feels edgy (as much as Dubai ever does) and is filled with a well-heeled set, so make sure you’re not too casually dressed. The menu takes in robata grills, sushi rolls and skewers and everything sounds great – from the more unusual (the sashimi pizza) to the familiar (volcano rolls). Sashimi platters are as fresh as can be. The foie gras and barbecue eel maki feels indulgent, and the combination of smoky eel and rich foie gras is tough to beat. The black cod is very good, too, but the tiger prawns are perhaps the standout dish. They’re meaty and zesty from the yuzu kosho sauce. It’s all pretty much perfect and when you get the bill, it’ll feels like good value, too, considering the quantity and quality of what is served. The restaurant has quite a buzz; this isn’t stuffy fine-dining, but a great place to chat and catch up over a very decent meal.
