Time Out Says

Housed inside one of the dome-shaped shells at The Beach, this is a fun and funky place to dine. After walking through a red telephone box to get into the tiny restaurant, you’ll be met by model spitfires hanging from the ceiling, table football, vintage posters and Union flags everywhere. Outside, a reused, reinvented vibe pervades the furniture set out in view of the sea, with oil drums, and industrial-sized wooden spools doubling up as tables and chairs. The concept at Retro Feasts is a modern re-imaging of vintage British favourites, and you might be surprised at the quality of the food. The popcorn chicken features generously sized chunks of tender meat coated in batter with an equally generous degree of crunch and texture, while the smoked salmon salad comes with large clusters of fatty, sweet and smoky fish, and plenty of fresh green leaves. For something more substantial, the Retro Burger is satisfyingly messy and the mac ‘n’ cheese rich and indulgent.
