And, one place that’s firmly on the you-need-to-go-to pile is Sah El Nom. The Syrian spot already has a home in Business Bay.
However, it’s often dwarfed by its noisy neighbours.
Well, its brand-new site is definitely not at risk of being overlooked – frankly, you can’t miss the vast restaurant. The interiors of white and blue tiles, luxury leather chairs and heavy duty tables spills out onto an even bigger terrace.
And, when we arrive on a weeknight, we’re delighted to see it absolutely heaving.
In such a short space of time, the restaurant has already garnered a loyal following.
Staff certainly help, as every member is knowledgeable, courteous and serves food quickly. Three big ticks from two hungry diners that’s for sure.
For starters, we weave our way through delicious mfarrakeh truffles (minced meat with truffle oil) and meat burek (fried spring rolls stuffed with minced meat, onions and spices). The fresh bread basket is duly ripped up and dunked into the fiery sauces.
Mains are chef’s specials or classic grills. We opt for the waiter’s choice of cheese kebab (minced lamb mixed with cheese and served with melted cheese sauce) and ouzi lamb chops. Both are classics elevated to high standards. The meats are tender, the spiced rubs are complex and the sides of rice, breads and sauce round them off supremely.
Take note diners, Sal El Nom is all fired up.
