From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011Tucked neatly at the back of the Aviation Club, this Iranian restaurant has a charming majlis outdoor seating area (tables too if you’re not a fan of sitting cross-legged). Service can be lazily slow at times but the waiters know their kebabs and are quite friendly. Try the doogh – a yoghurt soda with spices – a refreshing drink that went down nicely with the complimentary salad and crusty flatbread that was brought to our table. Appetisers are delicious and sets high expectations for the mains that unfortunately disappoint.
The king prawn kebabs has a rather bland marination and tasted an awful lot like chicken. For a prawn dish that costs close to a Dhs100, you’d expect it to, at the very least, taste of prawns. The lamb ‘bareh rish’ cutlets are better, with a good texture, but not particularly memorable. There are traditional desserts but if you opt for the crème brulee on the menu, you'll absolutely love it but also be presented a separate bill for it from the Japanese restaurant next door, which is where it came from. Sarband serves up slightly above average Persian fare, with prices that just don’t add up.
