Time Out Says
Set in the Umm Suqiem Fishing Harbour, this is a quaint spot to eat al fresco both day or night, with views of the fishing boats and out to sea. The restaurant is fairly quiet due to its somewhat tucked away location, but the terrace has a nice, rustic, holiday feel to it. There’s a clear Indian influence here, too, from tikka dishes to curries. Billed as one of Seaview’s signature dishes, the prawn tempura are of a good size but the herb batter is overpowering. The calamari doesn’t fare much better, being bland and a tad rubbery. Mains are more inspiring, however. A piece of king fish arrives wrapped in a voluminous banana leaf, and is meaty, tasty and piled high with a fragrant tomatoey sauce. A rich, coconutty prawn curry is well-flavoured, has a good kick and is packed full of prawns. Prices aren’t going to break the bank, either, though the food is not as good as some other seafront seafood spots.
