Time Out Says

Themed after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s notorious detective, the Sherlock Holmes pub is delightfully twee. Decked out in tacky memorabilia and random nick-nacks, venturing inside feels a little like stepping back in time. Clearly popular with tourists, the printed place mats include a selection of cringe-worthy jokes, absurd facts and, best of all, some bizarre ‘points to ponder’. Put simply, it’s an experience. Sadly, the food is uniformly poor. Meat and fish arrives looking limp and forgotten, served on a bed of tasteless boiled veg. The spaghetti bolognaise resembles a slab of bargain basement mince lumped on top of the contents of a Pot Noodle. Which is a shame really, because with its amusing house band and alarmingly retro nights, this place has charm by the bucket load. So stop by for a hilarity-laden drink, but don’t bother dining unless it’s strictly necessary.
