Time Out Says

From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010
We would have written this review half an hour earlier if Shogun was easier to find – but once you’ve tracked it down, it provides tasty fare at decent prices. Overwhelmingly, there are three menus – Korean, Thai and Japanese – executed to varying levels of success. Skip starters: the free kimchi hits the spot and starters often arrive after mains anyway. Crab sausages (which weren’t available when Time Out visited) notwithstanding, the Thai menu, while tasty, is fairly predictable; the Japanese is packed full of sushi. The Korean selection, meanwhile, is all about the stews, casseroles and grills: the BBQ rib platter comes heaving with sweet, sticky morsels. The flavours are there but the meat has a disappointingly chewy, fatty quality to it. Shogun’s a busy spot, although the dividing curtains ensure that you don’t see your fellow diners. The service varies, with some servers knowledgeable and eager, and others looking as though they’re put out that you’re there at all. It makes for a pleasant enough meal, but isn’t worth making a huge detour for.
